Parchment is the vendor that UWF uses to print and manage diplomas.  All financial holds must be cleared before a diploma will be issued; you may see a comprehensive list of holds that may affect your diploma on the UWF Holds & Definitions Confluence Page. Awarding of your degree is contingent upon your degree audit indicating 100% complete, in addition to your record going through a final review to confirm completion of all requirements. Once your degree is awarded you will receive an email confirming the award within 24 hours. Your awarded degree will immediately be reflected on any transcript you order.

Diploma Name

To ensure accuracy and consistency, the name shown on your diploma must reflect your legal name as recorded with the University at the time your degree is conferred. The following guidelines apply:

Name Format Guidelines

  • The diploma must include your legal first and last name as on file.

  • Your middle name is optional. You may choose to:

    • Include the full middle name,

    • Use only the middle initial, or

    • Omit the middle name entirely.

  • If you wish to include a middle name or initial, it must already be on record as part of your legal name with the University.

  • Nicknames, informal variations, or preferred names cannot be used.

Name Changes & Diploma Issuance

  • If you need to change or correct your name before the diploma is issued, submit a Student Data Change Form through MyUWF, along with appropriate legal documentation (e.g., government-issued ID, court order, marriage certificate).

  • Name change requests must be completed and approved prior to degree award in order to appear correctly on the original diploma.

  • If you request a name change after your degree has been awarded, you will need to request a new diploma reflecting the updated name (and any associated fees will apply).

Diploma Format

Diplomas reflect name, degree earned, major/program, university honors (if applicable), and degree date.  The program code is determined by the department and thus we are unable to change the major/program names because they are determined by their respective departments.
