Housing & Weather Safety
Your safety is our #1 priority.
- Campus housing is exclusively for UWF students.
- Entrances are only accessible via key card.
- We have five layers of On-Call Support to assist your student 24 hrs a day every day.
- There’s a dedicated campus police force and Blue Light stations to get in contact with UWF officers in case of an emergency.

General Tornado or Severe Weather Procedures
Follow the General Tornado or Severe Weather Procedures in the event of a tornado or severe weather warning.
Tropical Weather
In the event of a hurricane or other tropical weather, the University may close, and all on-campus individuals may need to evacuate University Housing. The Tropical Weather Guide is provided as an aid in maintaining student and guest's personal safety and well being.
Resources Close to Campus
There are a number of resources located close to campus that you may need to visit during your time in Pensacola. Here are a few of the major retailers nearby, many of which you can get to using the transportation services listed on this page.
Department Stores
Dollar Tree (limited, low-cost)
University Town Center (plaza with various shops and services)
Transportation
Bus transportation will be provided for off-campus events and travel from/to the airport. The following no-cost resources are available to UWF students. You can also catch a ride using a transportation service, like Uber or Lyft.
UWF Trolley
During the summer, only the Express Trolley services the campus. Times and routes can be seen on the Express Trolley Schedule.
Weather - The UWF Trolley is operated under contract with Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT). In the event that a Tornado Warning is issued for Escambia County, the UWF trolley service, as well as other county vehicles, will be stopped until the Tornado Warning is lifted or severe weather has passed.
Monitor the UWF Trolley webpage for specifics and updates. There is no cost to UWF students to use the trolley.
ECAT Bus Service
ECAT (Escambia County Area Transit) is a community transportation service with routes throughout the Pensacola area. As a UWF student, you can pick up one 10-Ride Bus Pass each week. See the ECAT Bus Service webpage for where to pick up your bus pass, program guidelines, and how ECAT services UWF.
Bus Route 43 - ECAT services UWF's Pensacola campus via Bus Route 43. Download a printer-friendly version of the ECAT Route 43 Schedule and Map.
For other ECAT schedules and connections, visit the ECAT website.
Weather - Escambia County Area Transit (ECAT) operates ECAT Buses and the UWF Trolley. In the event that a Tornado Warning is issued for Escambia County, ECAT buses and the UWF trolley service will be stopped until the Tornado Warning is lifted or severe weather has passed.
