Overview

Welcome to  "Basic Computer Skills Training for GIS". This course is designed to familiarize students, faculty and staff with identifying and obtaining the computer skills required to successfully complete GIS tasks. GIS instructors expect students will have the following skills and abilities before enrolling in GIS coursework. 

This course covers the following topics:


Take your time and work through this course as you assess and practice skills as needed at your own pace.

Prerequisites  

Certain aspects of GIS software require students to have sight and hand-eye coordination (certain abilities) to practice GIS and use the software (any GIS software).

Access to high-speed internet and a personal computer or laptop is required to participate in our fully online GIS courses. 

Working Through the Course

You are free to work through this course at your own pace. Students have until the end of drop/add week to finish the course and take the exam. You will find graphics and videos throughout this course.
