Getting Started with UWF
Let's make you an Argo! To get started, you'll first need to take these steps.

Prepare for Registration
A UWF staff member will register you for your classes. This cannot be done until the following steps have completed before being registered for courses.
- Submit your Mandatory Immunization Health History Form
- Agree to the Financial Responsibility Statement

Textbooks can be purchased from the UWF Bookstore.
Technology & Email Requirements
Each UWF student is expected to do the following:
- Activate your MyUWF/ArgoNet Account
- Access the MyUWF portal a minimum of 2-3 times a week
- Check your UWF student email (Gmail) account 2-3 times a week
- Have basic word-processing knowledge
Upgrading your MyUWF account to a full-access ArgoNet account
Your ArgoNet account will be available for update within two hours after being registered for courses.
MyUWF contains the information and all of the online services you need to be an active member of the UWF community. To access MyUWF, click the green MyUWF button at the top of UWF webpages, or go to my.uwf.edu.
Understanding the layout of MyUWF and using the Search features will allow you to quickly find what you need. If you need assistance accessing MyUWF, please refer to Getting Started in MyUWF.
Upon enrolling, you will be issued a UWF student email account. All students are expected to regularly check their UWF email account for University business and official University communications
Google Apps is UWF's official email (Gmail) and calendar system. To access your email, calendar, and collaboration tools, log into Google Apps at gmail.students.uwf.edu. Your email address is your ArgoNet username followed by "@students.uwf.edu".
Canvas eLearning Management System
UWF's online courses are made available through the Canvas eLearning Management System. This is where instructors post course materials, such as syllabi, learning materials (documents, videos, etc.), discussions, calendar, inbox and notifications, announcements, grades, quizzes, and assignments.
Ensure you receive instructor notifications and announcements by logging into Canvas at least every two days and checking your Canvas notification preferences.

Accessing Canvas
You can access Canvas via the Canvas Mobile App or from your web browser by using either of the following methods:
- Login to MyUWF and search for “Canvas”
- Visit elearning.uwf.edu, select “Continuing Education,” and login using your ArgoNet credentials
Courses will appear on your Canvas Dashboard on the first day of class. Prior to this time, your course not be available, unless the instructor opens the class early.
Once you are in Canvas, you will see your course listed and you can click on it to access it. You will notice a toolbar on the left with navigation options on the landing page. You should see a “Begin Here” option but can always select “Modules” and access the course material that way.

Additional Information
Nautilus Card
Students of the University of West Florida are eligible to get a Nautilus Card (student ID card), though cards are only required for students attending classes on the Pensacola campus. While physical Nautilus Cards can only be obtained at the Pensacola campus, a virtual card option is available.

Complete the AFJROTC Student Information FormThe AFJROTC Student Information Form is a secure, electronic form which will be sent to your personal email address. This form is where you will share required information and upload required documents. You will need your UWF ID number to complete this form. If appropriate, we encourage you to complete this form with your parent/guardian. If you are under the age of 18, the form will be routed to your parent/guardian's email for review after you've completed your portion. Note that you will need to Create a DynamicForms Account to access the form. Your account must be created with the same personal email address as this email was sent to. Documents to be UploadedThe following documents are needed to successfully complete the form. You may need access to a scanner or scanner app (for mobile devices). PDF files are preferred. NOTE: Expired documents, temporary documents, or documents that will expire during your enrollment period will not be accepted.
Other Required Information
Once processed, your form and all uploaded documents will be saved to the university's secure document management system. |

Complete the UWF Photographic/Film Consent & Release FormWe hope to capture and share as many photos as possible during your time at UWF. We will need your consent (or the consent of a parent/guardian) to share photos/videos of select populations (minors) and settings. Florida law protects against the unauthorized use of a person’s name or likeness for commercial purposes. The institution's photo/video release policy establishes the procedures and best practices related to the University of West Florida’s use of photography and video that depicts campus life, events, ceremonies and other University activities.
