Getting Started with UWF

Let's make you an Argo! To get started, you'll first need to take these steps.

MyUWF contains the information and all of the online services you need to be an active member of the UWF community. To access MyUWF, click the green MyUWF button at the top of UWF webpages, or go to my.uwf.edu

Submit your Mandatory Immunization Health History Form and supporting documentation through the Immunization Status App in MyUWF. Late, incomplete, or inaccurate information may delay registration.

FERPA Release

All AFJROTC students are required to submit a FERPA Release form allowing UWF to share your educational records with the Air Force Junior Reserve Office Training Corps (AFJROPTC), a Government sponsored program.

Financial Responsibility Statement

Complete the Financial Responsibility Statement, which is an agreement the University requires every UWF student to acknowledge before registering for classes. This can cause confusion for students whose tuition is paid by a third party. Unfortunately, there's no way to avoid this requirement, regardless of a student's method of payment.  Thankfully, it's an easy process!

Registration and Courses

Prepare for Registration

A UWF staff member will register you for your classes. This cannot be done until the following steps have completed before being registered for courses.  

  1. Submit your Mandatory Immunization Health History Form
  2. Agree to the Financial Responsibility Statement

A UWF staff member will register you for the following courses. You will receive a registration confirmation email once your registration is complete.

Textbooks can be purchased from the UWF Bookstore.

Technology & Email Requirements

Each UWF student is expected to do the following:

Upgrade to a Full-Access MyUWF/ArgoNet Account

Your ArgoNet account will be available

Get to know Canvas eLearning

Management

Ensure you receive instructor notifications and announcements by logging into Canvas at least every two days and checking your Canvas notification preferences.

UWF's online courses are made available through the Canvas eLearning Management System. This is where instructors post course materials, such as syllabi, learning materials (documents, videos, etc.), discussions, calendar, inbox and notifications, announcements, grades, quizzes, and assignments.

You can access Canvas

via the Canvas Mobile App or from your web browser by using either of the following methods

in two ways:

  1. Login
to  and search for “Canvas” Visit elearning.uwf.edu, select “Continuing Education,” and login using your ArgoNet credentials

Best Practices for Canvas

Where are my Courses?

Courses will appear on your Canvas Dashboard on the first day of class.

  

  Prior to this time, your course not be available, unless the instructor opens the class early.

Once

you are in Canvas, you will see your course listed and you can

your course(s) appear, click on it to access it. You will notice a toolbar on the left with navigation options on the landing page. You should see a “Begin Here” option, but can always select “Modules” and access the course material that way.

Nautilus Card

Students of the University of West Florida are eligible to get a Nautilus Card (student ID card), though cards are only required for students attending classes on the Pensacola campus.  While physical Nautilus Cards can only be obtained at the Pensacola campus, a virtual card option is available.
