Overview

The ITS Help Desk monitors external cyber-security breaches that contain impact UWF email addresses. These Gmail accounts. Although these external cyber-security breaches are not UWF data breaches. Outside breaches such as these may , these outside breaches may still compromise your account credentials. For this reason, we recommend UWF email accounts only be used for educational and/or UWF business purposes.  This is stated in the UWF Electronic Communications Policy.

Notification

The ITS Help Desk will notify and secure as many accounts as necessary accounts following a non-UWF data breach. Secured accounts may require Changing resetting your MyUWF/ArgoNet password or Activating reactivating your MyUWF/ArgoNet Accountaccount to restore access.

Addressing Potential Compromises

If you have received a notification that your account was related to a non-UWF Data data breach, we recommend that you complete the following steps to secure your account:

1. Change your MyUWF/ArgoNet password immediately via the My Account App inside app in MyUWF. Changing your password may prevent anyone who received the your compromised data from being able to access accessing your UWF accounts. For instructions on changing your password, please see this link: Changing your MyUWF/ArgoNet passwordaccount. 
   
   
2. Turn on 2-Step Verification on for your UWF Google Gmail account. Turning on 2-Step verification can add an extra layer of security to your UWF Google Gmail account by preventing and/or notifying you of unauthorized login to your UWF Google Account. For instructions on turning on 2-step verification, please see this link: Turn on 2-Step Verification  unauthorized users from accessing your account.  And with 2-Step verification, Google may notify you of any possible unauthorized logins to your UWF Gmail account.
