Overview
New student's using VA educational benefits can follow these steps to start using their VA Education benefits at UWF.
The first step would be applying to UWF. If you have not yet applied, freshman and transfer students may email mvrc@uwf.edu for the Future Argonaut Referral (FAR) form which waive the $30 application fee. Be advised, the application waiver may only be provided if you do not have an application on file.
For all others, follow the prompts below on how to apply to UWF:

- New students will need identify the application type and create an account. Returning students may log in to continue their application or submit a new application.

Applying for Ch 30
You can apply online via VA Form 22-1990 (if you have already applied skip this step).
You do not need sign in to start your application. If you do not sign in, you must complete your application as it will not save any progress. You may first create an ID.me or Login.gov account. Logging in will save your application progress. If you have not used your education benefits, complete the Form 22-1990

Application for Ch 31 Benefits
You can apply online, Careers And Employment | Veterans Affairs (va.gov)(if you have already applied skip this step)
Once you complete form 28-1900. Meet with your VR&E Counselor for entitlement determination and plan development.
The Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) helps you pay for school or cover expenses while you're training for a job. If you've served on active duty after September 10, 2001, you may qualify for the Post 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33). If you are a veteran/service member/reservist and have not used your education benefits, complete Form 22-1990. You will need to create an ID.me or LOGIN.GOV account
Save a copy of the confirmation page and email it to us at mvrc@uwf.edu. Example of required form:
For dependents whose sponsored transferred their Post 9/11 while on active duty.
Applying for Ch. 33
You can apply online via VA Form 22-1990e (if you have already applied skip this step).
Application for Education Benefits should be completed after high school graduation. Dependents must first create an ID.me or Login.gov account and must be at least 18 years old to create this account. Service member should not sign in to their own account to apply for transferred of benefits as this may cause issues or delays.
If you are under 18, a paper form of the 22-1990e will need to be completed and mailed to the VA. MVRC will require a copy of the certified mail or receipt of the form being mailed to the VA.
Please save a copy of the confirmation page and email it to mvrc@uwf.edu.

If you’re the child or spouse of a Veteran or service member who has died, is captured or missing, or is permanently and totally disabled due to a service-connected disability, you may be eligible for the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA) program. (If your Sponsor died in the line of duty you might be entitled to the Fry Scholarship. Applying for Ch. 35
You can apply online via VA.gov (Online VA Form 22-5490). Apply for Education Benefits after high school graduation (if you have already applied skip this step).
You do no need sign in to start your application. If you do not sign in, you must complete your application as it will not save any progress. Dependents may first create an ID.me or Login.gov account. You must be at least 18 years old to create this account. Creating an ID.me Login will save your application progress.

The Edith Nourse Rogers Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) Scholarship allows eligible Veterans using the Post-9/11 GI Bill or dependents using the Fry Scholarship to get added benefits. This scholarship provides up to 9 months (or $30,000) of benefits for training in high-demand fields. Applying for VA STEM Scholarship
You can apply online via VA Form 22-10203 (if you have already applied skip this step)
When applying for the Rogers STEM Scholarship you scroll to the bottom of the page from the link above provided and start your application without signing in. If you do not sign in, you must complete your application as it will not save any progress. You may first create an ID.me or Login.gov account. Logging in will save your application progress.

The Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship (Chapter 33) provides Post-9/11 GI Bill® benefits to the children and surviving spouses of Service members who died in the line of duty while on active duty after September 10, 2001. Eligible beneficiaries attending school may receive up to 36 months of benefits at the 100% level. Application for FRY Scholarship benefits
You can apply online via VA Form 22-5490 (if you have already applied skip this step). As a dependent child that is using this benefit for the first time must complete Form 22-5490.

Purchase Order/Authorization
Veterans who have applied and met with their VR&E Counselors will have authorization to attend UWF. Your CH31 Counselor will send the PO authorization to UWF and Follett. Meet with your academic advisor to register for classes.

ALL VETERANS AND SERVICE MEMBERS may check for their Post 9/11 GI Bill Statement of Benefits:
- Go to VA.gov. Under VA Benefits and Health Care, select Education and Training. Under Manage your Benefits select 'Check Post 9/11 GI Bill Statement of Benefits'
- You will need to sign in with an existing Login.gov, ID.me, DS Logon, or My HealtheVet account. If you don’t have any of these accounts, you can create a free Login.gov or ID.me account now.
- This Statement of Benefits will work as a Certificate of Eligibility (COE). Please send it to mvrc@uwf.edu. Please see an example of the documentation below.

We will also need a copy of the Transfer of Education Benefits (TEB) Form. This form can be obtained by the service member whose benefits you are using via milConnect: https://milconnect.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect/. Log into milConnect and select Transfer of Education Benefits (TEB) from the Benefits menu. Example of required TEB:

-If you are the spouse, please notify us if your sponsor still active duty.

Form 22-5490
This is the confirmation page page provided at the end of the application, see snippet below. We will also need your sponsor's full name, social security number, branch of service and which type of beneficiary you are (i.e., spouse, 1st child using benefits, 2nd child using benefits, etc.). Without your sponsors full name and social security number, we cannot submit your certification to the VA.

Note: You Notice of Basic Eligibility (DD Form 2384-1) is obtained from your unit. Your unit will also code your eligibility into the Department of Defense (DoD) personnel system so the VA can verify it.

Register for Courses
You will need to meet with your academic advisor to get registered for classes. After registering for classes, you will need to upgrade your MYUWF account to full access. To do this, type My account in the search bar of your MYUWF account. Click on Upgrade. This can be done at least 2 hours after registering for classes. Once the account has been updated, click the log out button. Once you log back into your account, you will have full access. VA Enrollment Certification Form (ECF)
You will need to fill this form out through your MyUWF account after you have registered for classes. This form needs to be completed every semester and any time your class schedule changes. To locate the form, type VA enrollment certification form in the search bar of your MyUWF account.
