Student Accessibility Resources (SAR) is the University of West Florida’s designated office for ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. SAR works to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to the university's academic programs, just like any other student.  SAR is the central location for maintaining documentation related to a student’s disability and for determining appropriate academic accommodations. These accommodations are designed to reduce barriers to learning without altering academic standards or guaranteeing success. Accommodations are determined individually, based on the nature of each student’s documented disability.

Requesting Academic Accommodations

Prior to receiving accommodations and services, students must self-identify as a student in need of accommodations and register with the SAR office by following the steps outlined below:

Step #1:  Students requesting services must have applied and be admitted to the University of West Florida.

Step #2:  Students will need to verify the need for accommodations (self-identify) by submitting an application and supporting medical documentation.

Step #3:  Students will need to complete a registration appointment with a SAR staff member.  To schedule an appointment, students should call the SAR office at 850.474.2387.
