Retention Details

Zoom's retention helps manage cloud storage by automatically handling old recordings.

  • Retention Period: Recordings are retained for 3 years after creation.
  • Post-Retention Process:
    • Move to Trash: After 3 years, recordings are moved to the Zoom cloud trash.
    • Trash Retention: Recordings remain in the cloud trash for 30 days.
      • You will receive an email notification 7 days prior to a recording being permanently deleted.
    • Permanent Deletion: After 30 days in the trash, recordings are permanently deleted.
      • Trash can be accessed in the upper right corner of the Recordings page in Zoom (assuming there are items in the trash)

Conclusion

Implementing these retention settings will help optimize storage usage and ensure that important content is retained while freeing up space from outdated and unused materials.

FAQs

Zoom has storage quotas. Enforcing retention policies helps ensure storage is shared equitably among users, preventing any single user or department from consuming excessive storage space. This also promotes efficient use of resources, ensuring that important and frequently accessed content remains available while removing outdated and unused videos.

The best place to store your recordings is in Google Drive.
