Checking in to the Writing Lab
The Writing Lab doesn't currently allow students to schedule or request appointments through GradesFirst. Please visit, call, or e-mail the Main Writing Lab to learn more about the services it offers.
However, the Writing Lab does use GradesFirst to track the students that visit.
Step 1
Be sure to bring your UWF student ID card or have your UWF student ID number memorized. You will need your number to sign in and out.
If you do not bring your card, you may be asked to leave the tutoring center to retrieve either your student ID card or your student ID number.
Step 2
You should see a screen similar to the following when you arrive to the kiosk of the Writing Lab.
Either swipe your card by using the card reader, or manually enter your UWF student ID number by using the keyboard.
Click the blue "Submit" button only if you manually enter your UWF student ID number.
Step 3
A list of student services will appear. Select the one that you want to use.
Below is a summary of the student services the Writing Lab offers. To learn more, please visit, call, or e-mail the Main Writing Lab; and please visit Paper Readings for Undergraduates, Paper Readings for Graduates, Skill-of-the-Week Tutoring Sessions, and Independent Study:
- WL Independent Study – This student service is a repeating, weekly one-on-one tutoring session between a tutor and a student.
- WL Paper Reading Appointment – This student service allows tutors to help students with appointments improve their papers.
