Dual Enrollment is a coursework acceleration program that allows qualified secondary school students to begin postsecondary coursework while earning credits towards their high school diploma at the same time. Dual Enrollment is established by law (Florida Statute 1007.271) for public, private, charter, and home school secondary students. In addition to the academic opportunities, students enrolled for dual enrollment are exempt from the payment of tuition, registration, and laboratory fees pursuant to s. 1009.25, F.S. UWF currently has dual enrollment articulation agreements with Escambia County School Board and Santa Rosa County School Board. Additionally, UWF has articulation agreements with the following private schools: Aletheia Christian Academy, Trinitas Christian School, Pensacola Private School of Liberal Arts, Calvary Christian Academy, Aspiring Heights Academy, East Hill Christian School, Lighthouse Private Christian Academy, Pensacola Learning Academy, and Faith Christian Academy. Homeschool students are required to complete an individual Articulation Agreement that is routed to the student during the application process. These articulation agreements outline the specifics of dual enrollment eligibility, participation, and funding requirements. More information concerning the payment of fees by the private school of school board/district may be found in the articulation agreements. Students are required to pay $10 for their Nautilus Card. This fee is required to be paid at the time of enrollment and every Fall semester enrolled thereafter. If you are planning to park on campus, please make sure to fill out the Dual Enrollment Parking Permit form each semester to avoid any tickets or fines. If you receive a parking ticket or fine, you as the student are required to pay these fines. 

Admission Requirements For Dual Enrollment

  1. Attained grade level of at least sixth through twelfth, Section 1007.271(2)F.S.
  2. Earned a minimum of no less than three high school core academic credits.
  3. Possess a minimum, unweighted high school GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. (Once admitted, students must maintain a minimum of 2.5 GPA.)
  4. Have already taken the SAT, ACT, PERT (Postsecondary Education Readiness Exam), ACCUPLACER, or CLT (Classic Learning Test) exams for a course that would require academic placement:
    • SAT or Digital SAT minimum scores: Evidence-Based Reading & Writing - 490; Mathematics - 480
    • ACT minimum scores: Reading - 19; Mathematics - 19; English - 17
    • PERT minimum Scores: Reading - 106; Mathematics - 114; and Writing - 103
    • Next-Generation ACCUPLACER, The College Board (through July 2022) minimum scores: Quantitive Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics - 242; Reading - 245; Writing - 253
    • Next-Generation ACCUPLACER, The College Board (since August 2022) minimum scores: Quantitive Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics - 261; Reading - 256; Writing - 253
    • CLT minimum scores: Sum of Verbal Reasoning and Grammar/Writing - 38; Quantitive Reasoning - 16

Basic Steps To Apply For Dual Enrollment

  1. Complete and submit the Dual Enrollment Application‌ for the desired term of entry. The Dual Enrollment application only has to be completed once unless there has been a period of nonattendance that is three consecutive semesters or more and the student still has dual enrollment eligibility. As a reminder, please do not input your school email on the application. Please use a personal email as your preferred email address for us to communicate with you until your UWF student email is activated. 
  2. Complete the Dual Enrollment Approval Form‌ as verification that the GPA requirement has been met. The Approval Form is also where requested courses are listed, and counselor signs to approve the student. The Dual Enrollment Approval Form has to be completed each semester a student is seeking to be registered as a dual enrollment student at UWF. 
  3. Activate your ArgoNet account in MyUWF. 
  4. Satisfy any holds:
    1. Complete the UWF Immunization Form available in MyUWF and upload any supporting documentation. 
    2. Satisfy the Financial Responsibility hold through you MyUWF account. This form must be completed before registration can be processed. (This hold will not populate until closer to the start of registration for each semester.) 
  • Please note:
    In accordance with the requirements of Florida law (Section 119.071, Florida Statutes), the University of West Florida collects social security numbers only if specifically authorized or required by law or if imperative for the performance of the University’s duties and responsibilities.  As indicated in this form, the University prefers that you use your Student ID number in lieu of the SSN.  However, if you do not know your Student ID, the SSN must be used for matching purposes.  In such event the use of the SSN is a business imperative and is authorized for collection under Section 119.071(5)(a)(2)(a)(II), F.S.  Please see Division of Academic Affairs Collection and Use of Social Security Numbers‌‌ for UWF’s guidelines on the use of social security numbers

There are a few types of courses dual enrollment students cannot take

  1. Courses that are not creditable to both the high school diploma and the college degree.
  2. Any courses for which the student already has credit or may earn AP/IB credit.
  3. Courses graded on an S/U basis, P/F basis, or not graded at all. Students may not audit courses.
  4. Recreation, physical skills, or leisure courses, such as dance, yoga, karate, tennis, or weightlifting.
  5. Courses with unmet prerequisites, including 3000-4000 level courses (allowed if prerequisites met).
  6. Courses designated as limited access or restricted to specific cohorts, programs, or student types. This includes the Kugelman Honors-designated sections.
  7. Graduate-level courses (5000-8000 level).
  8. Internships, capstones, independent/directed study, study abroad courses, or 990 courses.
  9. Applied Music courses, including, but not limited to MVB, MVK, MVP, MVS, MVV, and MVW courses
  10. 0 Credit hour courses 

Upon graduation from secondary school, dual enrollment students will lose their eligibility. At this point, they will have to submit the degree-seeking application or non-degree seeking application to continue taking classes at UWF.
