Overview

Effective February 3rd, 2025, there will be a 100 GB storage quota enforced on FacStaff H Drives. The following article provides the information you need to know about the storage quota, along with tips and tools to manage your storage.

Checking Storage Usage

On Windows:

From a UWF device on the UWF network:

  • Open File Explorer by clicking the icon shown below

  • Locate your H drive listed under "Network locations" (it should automatically be mapped to your device):

  • Right click on the H drive and select "Properties"
  • Your current storage usage will be shown next to "Used space"
    • Please note that as the 100GB quota is not yet enforced, the "Free space" shown will appear significantly higher than what will be available after February 3rd

On MacOS:

  • First, follow the instructions listed on Network Drive Mapping for Mac to connect to your H drive
  • Once the H drive is mapped, Command + Click on the folder and select "Get Info"

  • Your current storage usage will be shown under "Used" as shown below

FAQs

Yes. As you approach the quota, you will receive an email with the subject "Disk space is almost full." If you exceed the limit, you will receive an email with the subject "Disk space is full."

If you exceed the quota, you will receive an error stating that there is not enough space if you attempt to add new files to your H drive.
