The University of West Florida has taken steps to comply with the State University System Board of Governors Emergency Regulation 3.0075 – Security of Data and Related Information Technology Resources.
This regulation required institutions to remove technologies published in the State University System (SUS) Prohibited Technologies List from any university-owned device and to block network traffic associated with these technologies. As of April, 2023, the list includes:
- Kaspersky
- VKontakte
- Tencent QQ
- TikTok
As of October, 2024 the list has expanded with the following:
- Temu
- Tutor.com
- CamScanner
- SHAREit
- Alipay
- AliExpress
Use of these applications on University-owned devices or networks will be prohibited and use of these applications will be blocked on devices connected to the campus’ wired and wireless networks.
