It's important to note, Monthly Enrollment Verification with the VA differs than the Enrollment Certification Form (ECF) with UWF. The ECF Form ensures your courses are certified with the VA. Monthly Enrollment Verification notifies the VA you are still enrolled and nothing has changes with your schedule.
Monthly Enrollment Verification
To receive your monthly housing, you must verify your enrollment at the end of each month of enrollment. You can verify your enrollment online by following this link: https://www.va.gov/education/verify-school-enrollment.
Select 'For Montgomery GI Bill Benefits'
Sign in with your existing ID.me or Login.gov account. If you don’t have either of these accounts, you can create a free ID.me account or Login.gov account now.
Why does the system say I don't have a record on file?
- We (UWF) may have not processed your enrollment to the VA. Ensure all documentation has been submitted and an ECF was completed.
- The VA hasn't processed your enrollment paperwork.
Should I verify my enrollment if the system has the wrong credit hours?
- Yes, if the VA System displays the wrong number of course credits, still verify your enrollment. Contact our office immediately to correct your certification with the VA.
When do I verify my enrollment?
You’ll need to verify your enrollment at the end of every month after your school starts. For example, if your school starts on August 5, you’ll need to verify your enrollment on or after August 31.
If you were enrolled in school for any part of the month, you’ll need to verify your enrollment for that month. For example, if your school ends on May 5, you’ll need to verify your enrollment for the month of May on or after May 5
What if I don't verify my enrollment?
- The VA will not send your monthly benefits payment if you do not verify your enrollment.
I verified my enrollment, when will I get my monthly benefit payment?
- The VA will process your benefit payment after you verify your enrollment. It can take roughly up to 5 days to arrive.
What if I don't get my funding after the 5 days?
You can contact the VA through Ask VA to ask about your benefit payment.
Or, you can call them at 888-442-4551 (TTY: 711). If you live outside of the U.S., call us at +1-918-781-5678.

This can be done by calling GI Bill Customer Service monthly via email or text. The VA strongly recommends using text messaging as a simple, quick, and safe option for verifying enrollment to receive your MHA uninterrupted. When your enrollment is processed, you will receive the following text message, "Post 9/11 GI Bill housing and kicker payments now require monthly enrollment verification. Would you like to submit yours via text? Please reply Yes or No." The text will come from a number with an (855) area code. Reply "YES" to opt into text message verification. The text message link will expire 14 days after receipt. On the last day of each month, you will receive a text message requesting enrollment verification for that month. Reply YES to verify your enrollment if your classes have not changed. If they have changed and you are no longer enrolled in the amount of credits the recording states, contact the MVRC to update your records.
If you respond NO for text messaging verification and have a valid email address on file, you will be opted into email verification. On the last day of the month, you will receive an email requesting enrollment verification for that month. Select YES; my enrollment is the same to verify your enrollment.
If you fail to verify for two consecutive months, your MHA will be placed on hold. You need to contact GI Bill customer service (1-888-442-4551 ) to verify your enrollment and release your payments.
