Overview

University of West Florida has a Campus-Wide License for MATLAB, Simulink, and add-on products. Faculty, researchers, and students may use these products for teaching, research, and learning. The license allows individuals to install the products on university-owned equipment, as well as personally owned computers.

About MATLAB and Simulink

MATLAB, the language of technical computing, is a programming environment for algorithm development, data analysis, visualization, and numeric computation. Simulink is a graphical environment for simulation and Model-Based Design of multidomain dynamic and embedded systems. MathWorks produces nearly 100 additional products for specialized tasks such as data analysis and image processing.

Accessing MATLAB

Installing MATLAB on your computer

Download the Installer

  1. Go to our MATLAB Portal. Select ‘Sign in to get started’ under the Get MATLAB and
    Simulink section.
  2. Create or Sign into the MathWorks Account that is linked to your university license. (Note –you may be asked to login with your university credentials first).
  3. Click the download button for the current release. (Users can also download previous
    releases here).
    4. Choose a supported platform and download the installer.
    Install MathWorks Products
    1. Run the installer.
    2. Sign in with a MathWorks Account and follow the instructions in the installer.  
    3. When prompted, select the Academic – Total Headcount license labeled MATLAB
    (Individual).
    4. In the Product Selection screen, select the products you want to download and then
    click Begin Install. 
    5. When the installation is completed, click Finish. You may now begin using MATLAB. If you
    are new to MATLAB, learn the basics with Getting Started with MATLAB.

Get Started with Online Training Suite 

If you are linked to your university’s Campus-Wide License, you are automatically enrolled in self-paced online training courses included with your university’s Campus-Wide License and can get started. If you need help linking to your university’s Campus-Wide License, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Online Training and learn about the self-paced online training courses available.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Manage My Courses.
  3. Sign into the MathWorks Account that is linked to your university license. Once logged in, you will be able to see all available courses.
  4. You may now begin using Online Training Suite. 

Get Started with MATLAB Online 

If you are linked to your university’s Campus-Wide License, MATLAB Online is available to access the latest version of MATLAB from a standard web browser using MathWorks hosted computing resources and storage. 
 
Go to MATLAB Online and sign-in for instant MATLAB access.
