STILL IN PROGRESS. These instructions do not appear to be valid as the accounts are now added through account settings rather than in the Gmail App itself.
On the latest version of the Gmail app, you can read and send mail from all your email addresses—even if they're not an @gmail or a Google for Work account.
Add an account
If you’d like to add other accounts to your Gmail app, follow these steps:
- Open the Gmail app.
- Touch the menu on the top left.
- At the top, touch the down arrow to the right of your username.
- Touch Add account.
- If you’re adding:
- A Gmail or Google for Work address, touch Google.
- A non-Gmail address (like Yahoo or Hotmail), touch Personal (POP, IMAP).
- A business email address that uses Exchange, touch Corporate (available for devices running Android 5.0 or higher).
- Follow the steps on the screen to add your account.
If you run into problems adding a non-Gmail address, you can check for other setup instructions on your email provider’s support site. When looking for this information, you can do a Google search for the words "POP" or "IMAP" along with the name of your email provider.
Switch between accounts
Messages on the Gmail app stay separate for each separate account. To switch between accounts:
- Open the Gmail app.
- Touch the menu on the top left.
- At the top left, touch the smaller circle representing the account you want to switch to.
