Active Duty Out of State Waiver

Active duty members of the United States Armed Forces residing in or stationed outside of the state are eligible for a waiver of out-of-state fees. The student must submit a copy of their current orders and most recent LES with the completed waiver application. The waiver application is a one-time process provided the student remains continuously enrolled. 

Be advised, you must be a UWF student and enrolled in courses to complete the form. To complete the form, follow these steps:

  • You will need to search “Active Duty Out of State Waiver” in your MyUWF account

  • Complete the form and upload the requested documentation. List of required documents:

Important Note:  Students must submit the waiver before the end of the semester they are enrolled. If completed after the end of the semester, the student will be liable for the out of state fees. Waivers are not retroactive. 

Active Duty Temporary Residency

 Active duty service members stationed at a military installation in Florida do not need to submit the Active Duty Out-of-State Waiver application. Qualifying service members, spouses, and dependents are eligible to receive temporary residency. Active drilling members of the Florida National Guard are also eligible for temporary residency.


To be classified as a Temporary Resident: 

  • Active duty service member: Declare "military on orders" on the UWF admission application and provide a copy of the most recent Title 10 assignment orders.
  • Dependents: Declare "military on orders" on the UWF admission application. A copy of orders for the service member and DEERS verification for dependents will be required.
