What you see when you check in and out of a kiosk depends on the situation. These instructions will explain what you'll do if you made a tutoring appointment using GradesFirst, if you want to attend a study hall, and if you are checking in and out of the Writing Lab.

Checking in to a tutoring appointment you made through GradesFirst
Step 1
Be sure to bring your UWF student ID card or have your UWF student ID number memorized. You will need your number to sign in and out.
If you do not bring your card, you may be asked to leave the tutoring center to retrieve either your student ID card or your student ID number.
Step 2
You should see a screen similar to the following when you arrive to the kiosk of a UWF tutoring center.
Either swipe your card by using the card reader, or manually enter your UWF student ID number by using the keyboard.
Click the blue "Submit" button only if you manually enter your UWF student ID number.
Step 3
The kiosk will show that you have an upcoming appointment with a tutor.
Click the green "Check In" button to check in to the appointment.
Step 4
Click the grey "Log Out" button.
Step 5
Let the tutoring center manager know that you have arrived.
Please wait patiently for your tutor to come get you.

Checking out of a tutoring appointment you made through GradesFirst
Step 1
You should see a screen similar to the following when you arrive to the kiosk of a UWF tutoring center.

Checking in to a study hall
Step 1

Select the study hall you would like.
Keep in mind that students who visit a study hall are planning to study either by themselves or with their peers, whether a tutor is available or not. Also keep in mind that, if a tutor is available, he or she may not be able to dedicate lengthy periods of time to you because other students may also need the tutor's assistance.
Step 4
Click the grey "Log Out" button.
Step 5
Sit in one of the designated, unoccupied areas of the tutoring center and begin studying.

Checking out of a study hall
Step 1

Checking in to the Writing Lab
The Writing Lab doesn't currently allow students to schedule or request appointments through GradesFirst. Please visit, call, or e-mail the Main Writing Lab to learn more about the services it offers.
However, the Writing Lab does use GradesFirst to track the students that visit.
Step 1
Be sure to bring your UWF student ID card or have your UWF student ID number memorized. You will need your number to sign in and out.
If you do not bring your card, you may be asked to leave the tutoring center to retrieve either your student ID card or your student ID number.
Step 2
You should see a screen similar to the following when you arrive to the kiosk of the Writing Lab.

A list of student services will appear. Select the one that you want to use.

- WL Independent Study – This student service is a repeating, weekly one-on-one tutoring session between a tutor and a student.
- WL Paper Reading Appointment – This student service allows tutors to help students with appointments improve their papers.
- WL Walk-In for Paper Reading – This student service allows students without scheduled appointments to still receive help.
- WL Thesis/Diss Reading (F2F) – This student service is offered to those with theses and dissertations. These appointments can be two hours long, whereas the other appointments are for an hour only.
- Various Skill-of-the-Week Tutoring Sessions (Appointment/Walk-In) – This student service helps students understand certain grammatical concepts.
