Course InformationFIN 5565 Equity Fund ManagementInstructor:Dr. Kwan-Chen Ma The course allows students to manage an institutional stock portfolio with real money. Students learn to develop investment thesis, industry analysis, valuations, and risk analysis in the process of stock portfolio management. Students are responsible for executing the actual trades and monitoring the invested portfolio on a real-time basis. GEB 5878 Business Process IntegrationInstructors:Mr. Gerald Goldstein, Ms. Annina Dahlstrom An introductory MBA core course in which students must combine the practical skills and discipline of specific concepts learned in previous foundation courses in order to solve a complex integrated real-life business problem. Serves as an initial integrating experience from which to launch students into the core MBA study. Permission is required. GEB 5930 Information Resources and Industry AnalysisInstructors:Mr. Gerald Goldstein, Ms. Annina Dahlstrom, Ms. Amy Sinkus Provides the background for beginning the MBA Portfolio. Gives introduction to information resources available to perform business problem analysis. Students learn to prepare a thorough analysis of their Portfolio industry. ACG 6309 Accounting for Decision MakingInstructor:Dr. Lane Lambert Upon completion of the course, students will gain knowledge about budgeting, profit planning, and controlling aspects of business decision making. This course covers three broad areas: fundamental financial and managerial concepts; revenue and cost accumulation techniques; and revenue and cost analysis. Available to non-accounting majors only. QMB 6305 Quantitative Methods for BusinessInstructor:Dr. John Batchelor These skills involve using statistical, forecasting and estimation techniques. MyUWFMyUWF contains the information and all of the online services you need to be an active member of the UWF community. To access MyUWF, click the green MyUWF button at the top of UWF webpages, or go to my.uwf.edu. Understanding the layout of MyUWF and using the Search features will allow you to quickly find what you need. If you need assistance accessing MyUWF, please refer to Getting Started in MyUWF. Upon enrolling, you will be issued a UWF student email account. All students are expected to regularly check their UWF email account for University business and official University communications Google Apps is UWF's official email (Gmail) and calendar system. To access your email, calendar, and collaboration tools, log into Google Apps at gmail.students.uwf.edu. Your email address is your ArgoNet username followed by "@students.uwf.edu". Canvas eLearning Management SystemUWF's online courses are made available through the Canvas eLearning Management System. This is where instructors post course materials, such as syllabi, learning materials (documents, videos, etc.), discussions, calendar, inbox and notifications, announcements, grades, quizzes, and assignments. A typical week will include a course module and assignments, such as discussion forum participation, quizzes, and other deliverables. Ensure you receive instructor notifications and announcements by logging into Canvas at least every two days and checking your Canvas notification preferences. Please watch the Canvas Overview video for an introduction to the Canvas Dashboard, Global Navigation links, course navigation, and accessing assignments. Accessing CanvasYou can access Canvas via the Canvas Mobile App or from your web browser by using either of the following methods:
Courses will appear on your Canvas Dashboard on the first day of class. Prior to this time, your course not be available, unless the instructor opens the class early. Once you are in Canvas, you will see your course listed and you can click on it to access it. You will notice a toolbar on the left with navigation options on the landing page. You should see a “Begin Here” option but can always select “Modules” and access the course material that way. Additional InformationNautilus CardStudents of the University of West Florida are eligible to get a Nautilus Card (student ID card), though cards are only required for students attending classes on the Pensacola campus. While physical Nautilus Cards can only be obtained at the Pensacola campus, a virtual card option is available. Online Orientation for New Graduate StudentsThe Online Orientation for New Graduate Students is geared toward students in all UWF graduate programs and is accessible 100% online, at your own convenience. The orientation will provide you with an overview of University services and an understanding of what to expect academically as a new UWF graduate student.
