Overview

On December 4, 2017, departmental and employee Web (I) drives will no longer be accessible from the Internet in their current location. New ArgoNet accounts will not include a web (I) drive. This change will take place to ensure that UWF is taking all necessary measures to maintain ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) compliance. Content published to the CMS, Google Sites/Drive, or Confluence will not be affected.

What will happen to the files on my Web (I) drive?

Files on the Web (I) drive will be moved to your Home (H) drive. No action is needed if your files do not need to be published to the web.

I use my Web (I) drive for web publishing. Can an exception be made?

You must notify ITS before December 4, 2017 to request that your Web (I) drive be accessible from the Internet at the new location. The new web address for your web drive will be www.pages.uwf.edu/{username}. Example: www.pages.uwf.edu/jdoe

Your web drive must be compliant with FERPA and ADA. Please see Online Content Considerations for links to information pertaining to ADA and FERPA compliance on the web.

Submit a request through the ITS Support Center stating that you need your content migrated. Please specify your account name in the request.

What other options do I have for publishing web content?

  • CMS
  • Confluence
  • Google Docs/Sites
  • eLearning

How can I check what's on my "I" drive?

The "I" drive works like a folder on your computer, except anything saved on the drive is posted to the Internet. The "I" drive is automatically mapped to campus computers when you sign in using your ArgoNet credentials. To locate the "I" drive from a campus computer, simply click on the Windows Explorer icon in your task bar. From the window that opens, click the directory titled "Web_username [Argofiler] (I:)" on the left side of the window. You will then be taken to your "I" drive. You may access your "I" drive from off campus using FTP. See Filezilla FTP Software for instructions to connect to your "I" drive off campus.

Will students continue to have access to "I" drives?

Future students will not receive "I" drives as a part of their ArgoNet file storage. Students who already have ArgoNet accounts will be able to keep their "I" drives. Information on the students.uwf.edu subdomain will continue to be published to the web.

Faculty:

If you need students to have an "I" drive for web publishing as part of a course requirement, submit a request to the ITS Help Desk that includes the course section that needs access.
