Title IX Reporting

For incidents of sexual misconduct, sexual violence, and gender-based discrimination, all university faculty and staff, with the exception of the counseling center, are mandatory reporters. To report Title IX incidents, to request remedial measures, and receive detailed information for support services, contact the below:

    The University of West Florida has contracted with Aetna Resources for Living to provide an Employee Assistance Program for employees and their family members. The Employee Assistance Program helps employees resolve personal and work problems through professional assistance. This is a confidential service.
  • UWF (CAPS) Counseling and Psychological Services (for students only)

    CAPS help students resolve personal problems through professional assistance.  This is a confidential service.  Since email is not a secure form of communication, CAPS staff members do not communicate via email regarding counseling appointments or mental health concerns. 
    [Information disclosed with Counselors and Psychologists at CAPS or the EAP will not be shared with anyone unless the individual consents.  Know that, personal identifiable information is not reportable, but general information such as the nature, date, time, and general location of a campus sexual violence incident must be reported to campus authorities so the school can identify and address patterns or systemic problems related to campus sexual violence.]

  • 24/7 Rape Crises Hotline                                                               
    Call 850-433-RAPE (7273) to speak with a victim advocate or rape crisis counselor.  The hotline offers free, confidential information, referral, and counseling. 

  • Favor House of Northwest Florida 
    Call the 24/7 crisis line at (850) 434-6600 or (850) 994-3560.  Also visit www.favorhouse.org for more information.  Services include a variety of resources for victims of domestic/relationship violence including 24/7 crisis lines, shelters, outreach counseling and transitional housing.

  • Trauma Exams 
    All hospitals located in Escambia or Santa Rosa County offer medical and trauma exams.   Victims of sexual assault or rape should request a trauma exam from the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SAME). A sexual assault forensic examination and evidence collection can be done for up to five days after the assault. The SAME examiner will explain all aspects of the medical forensic examination, obtain consent for the examination and collect evidence if desired. Treatment for STDs and emergency contraception may also be requested. Forensic evidence can be collected without reporting to law enforcement. The sexual assault examination kit will be stored for four years, in the event an individual chooses to initiate legal actions.
