Overview

Introduction

Yuja is a video platform integrated in Canvas that is available to faculty, staff, and students. Yuja can be utilized for video capture, editing, and management. Yuja provides several advanced features, including accessibility, editing, quizzing, and publishing. Yuja offers 24/7 live support.  

Yuja is replacing Panopto as the video platform integrated within Canvas. The Panopto contract ends September 30th, 2025, and should not be used to create new video content. Any content created in Panopto after May 7th, 2025, must be manually converted to Yuja. 

In July 2025, Panopto video libraries for each user were copied and replaced with Yuja videos. Users can access their Yuja Library now by clicking on "Yuja" in the left side Canvas Navigation. In late July, Yuja will begin replacing Panopto links and embedded videos inside Canvas course pages with Yuja links. Once the replacement process is complete, Canvas Administrators will search for Panopto content that was not automatically converted to Yuja and contact those content owners to provide conversion support. 

Yuja Information, Training, and Support Sessions

Yuja and CTLT will provide a series of face-to-face and Zoom sessions throughout the summer and fall semesters. Yuja Tutorials are also available at support.yuja.com. 

• Yuja Training Sessions provided by Yuja 
  • YuJa Beginners Training - The Beginners Training covers the Yuja Library, Recording Videos, and Editing Videos. 
  • YuJa Advanced Training - The Advanced Training covers adding Yuja Quizzes to videos and Yuja Analytics.  
• Yuja Weekly Support Sessions - Fridays, beginning May 2nd, from 10 AM-12 PM on Zoom and will continue through Fall 2025 as needed.

Important Dates

• March 19, 2025 - Yuja was turned on in Canvas.
• Any content created in Panopto after May 7th will have to be manually converted to Yuja. Therefore, we encourage all new video content to be created in Yuja starting May 7th. 
• June-July 2025 - Panopto video libraries for each user were copied and replaced with Yuja videos. Users can access their Yuja Library now by clicking on "Yuja" in the Canvas Navigation. 
• July-August 2025 - Yuja will replace Panopto links and embedded videos inside Canvas course pages with Yuja links.
• August 2025 - Canvas Administrators will search for Panopto content that was not converted to Yuja automatically and contact users to provide support. 
• (Tentative) August 2025 - Access to Panopto will be removed from Canvas. Users will be able to access Panopto Video Libraries from https://uwf.hosted.panopto.com/ until September 30th. 
• September 30th - Panopto contract ends.

Panopto Yuja Comparison

The decision to transition from Panopto to Yuja was based on the criteria below. Price, number of recurring and unresolved problems with Panopto, and the additional support, accessibility, editing, and content type features gained with Yuja were deciding factors. YuJa was tested with a group of faculty and student Panopto users to gather comparative feedback on features, usability, and functionality.
