This guide is intended to tell you the basics of completing the Risk Management for Events course for the Certificate in Event Planning program. 

General Info

Why do we need Risk Management for Events Training?

The Risk Management for Events training goes over important risk management regulations and requirements. Anyone planning an event at UWF or on behalf of the University should be aware of these regulations and requirements. 

Who needs training? How often?

Any faculty, staff, registered volunteer, student employee, or student organization that is planning events at UWF or on behalf of the University should take this class. While the quiz only needs to be taken once, everyone should regularly review the information and check with Risk Management for any new or updated information. 

How do I take the training?

You can access the training through SCOOP in MyUWF or by following the link in the References section below. After viewing the Risk Management for Events presentation, you will take a quiz. If you pass the quiz, you will have completed the training. For more details, please see the yellow panel on the right.

Responsibilities


  • Review Risk Management information on the Environmental Health and Safety website
  • Notify and work with the Risk Management coordinator on events
  • Completed the Student Insurance request in JIRA when insurances is needed for students.



How do I obtain this Certification?

The training is offered in an online-only format through SCOOP

  • Review the Risk Management for Events Training
  • Login to SCOOP
  • Navigate to the "Eligible" tab
  • Scroll down to "Risk Management for Events Training" and click the quiz link
  • Complete the quiz.

Upon passing the quiz, your completion badge will automatically update in SCOOP in about an hour. The training can be reviewed at any point after completing it.
