Overview

Canvas course chat is available to all students and faculty with access to a Canvas course in eLearning. Canvas Course chat is limited to users with access to the specific course only. 

To access your course's chat interface, select Chat from the course menu.

Using Canvas Chat

From the chat screen, you will be able to:

1. See who is online
2. Toggle new message alerts on or off
3. Chat with other students/faculty in your course

Enabling Canvas Chat in your Course (for instructors)

1. Log into eLearning and access the course
2. Select Settings from the left course menu
3. Select the Navigation tab
4. Click and drag Chat from the Drag items here to hide them from students section up to course navigation section
5. Select Save
6. Chat is now enabled for your course

FAQs

Use an expand section for each FAQ that you want to include. Copy and paste the expand section to create a new question. Make sure to edit the title of the expand section. Please remove this section if there are no FAQs.
