UWF Guardian is a personal safety service available to anyone with a valid UWF Nautilus Card ID. Check in with family, friends, campus safety, or others you trust to help you stay safe both on and off campus. Download the free RAVE Guardian app from the AppStore or GooglePlay, select University of West Florida. |
UWF Guardian allows you to rapidly provide information about yourself to the University of West Florida Police Department (UWFPD) during an emergency. By building a personal profile, information about you can be immediately accessed by dispatchers should you call from a registered mobile phone. UWF Guardian can also provide police with GPS coordinates from your phone (if available), which can decrease response time and allow first responders to locate you should you not be able to give them your location.
Rave Guardian is available for download in the AppStore for iPhone and in the GooglePlay store for Android.

You will be shown the following screens and can select to allow or not allow the following services.
UWF Police Dispatchers are only able to view information the user has chosen to provide, and only for the amount of time necessary to address the emergency.
For this feature to be useful to responders, it is extremely important that all information be up to date. To update your profile at any time, simply select the Profile button on the top left of the page. The more information you include on their profile, the easier it will be for UWFPD to assist you.
Information you can include.
Users have the option to enter information such as height, weight, medical issues, and any other relevant details they choose. It is highly recommended that users include details such as vehicle information, emergency contacts and important medical information. Users should also include a current photo.
You may access settings by selecting the Gear icon on the top right of the main page.
Under Settings, you can set your notification radius for Inbox messages, contact Guardian directly and read the Terms and Conditions.
Receive alerts from the UWF Police and UWF Mobile Alert system in real time.
With the Safety Timer, your status and location are available to those you trust. Set it up when you are heading somewhere unfamiliar, meeting with someone you don’t know, or any other time you would like someone to check in with you.
By checking the Friends & Family box, you will be able to select Contacts from your phone to use as a personal Guardian in addition to the Official Guardian which will always be the UWF Police.
Your Guardians will be able to see how long you have set your timer for and your GPS location. You can access the Safety Timer features by touching the blue Stopwatch button in the bottom right of the screen.
Your Guardian will notified if your timer expires. Remember to deactivate it when you are safe.
Call UWF Police or 9-1-1 – If you are in trouble on campus, you can easily call your campus safety organization or 911. You can also send a text tip – including photos – where available.
