Overview

On August 3rd, 2017, the use of "I" (web) drives will be discontinued for faculty, staff, student, and department ArgoNet Accounts. This change will take place to ensure that UWF is taking all necessary measures to maintain ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) compliance. Content published to the CMS, Google Sites/Drive, or Confluence will not be affected.

What will happen to the files on my "I" drive?

Files on the I drive will automatically be moved to the H drive. No action will need to be taken if you are only using your "I" drive for file storage and do not need your files published to the web.

I use my "I" drive for web publishing. What is my alternative for publishing my content?

Your content can be moved under the "pages.uwf.edu" subdomain. Submit a request prior to August 3rd, 2017 through the ITS Support Center stating that you need your content migrated. Please specify your account name in the request. Alternatively, depending on the type of content that is being hosted, you may utilize Confluence or your department's section of the uwf.edu website (CMS) for web publishing.

How can I check what's on my "I" drive?

The "I" drive works like a folder on your computer, except anything saved on the drive is posted to the Internet. The "I" drive is automatically mapped to campus computers when you sign in using your ArgoNet credentials. To locate the "I" drive from a campus computer, simply click on the Windows Explorer icon in your task bar. From the window that opens, click the directory titled "Web_username [Argofiler] (I:)" on the left side of the window. You will then be taken to your "I" drive. You may access your "I" drive from off campus using FTP. See Filezilla FTP Software for instructions to connect to your "I" drive off campus.

Where can I find more information regarding ADA and FERPA compliance?

Please see Online Content Considerations for links to information pertaining to ADA and FERPA compliance on the web. Any published content will need to be compliant.

Will students continue to have access to "I" drives?

Future students will not receive "I" drives as a part of their ArgoNet file storage. Students who already have ArgoNet accounts will be able to keep their "I" drives. Information on the students.uwf.edu subdomain will continue to be published to the web.

Faculty:

If you need students to have an "I" drive for web publishing as part of a course requirement, submit a request to the ITS Help Desk.
