If you were to find a lost USB flash drive, odds are you will may be compelled to plug the device into a machine , so you could in order to find who owns the device and return it to them.

Your intentions may be good, but hackers know there are good people out there who will plug these devices into their machines.  So these hackers will install malicious code on a flash drive and leave it somewhere, hoping that a good Samaritan will find this infected device and plug it in to find its owner.

Do not plug any USB flash drives or external hard drives you find into a computer.  Instead, turn the device into UWF Police.  They have a Lost & Found form that people can complete when they lose items.
