Deferral eligibility is granted to students receiving veterans' education benefits from federal programs if aid is delayed in transmission to the student through circumstances beyond the student's control.
Veterans and other eligible students receiving veterans' education benefits on active duty and under Chapters 30, 32, 35, and 1606, U.S.C., are eligible for one deferment each academic term. A 90-day deferment may be issued for the fall and spring terms and a 30-day deferment may be issued for the summer and mini-terms. An additional deferment extension may be issued if there is a delay in the receipt of benefits provided the extension is requested prior to the deferment due date.
The University of West Florida is in compliance with PL 115-407 section 103.

Any student utilizing VA Education Benefits as a funding source is permitted to apply for a deferment of 90 days in the Fall and Spring Terms and 30 days in the Summer Terms. It is important to note that a request for deferment may be disapproved by UWF if the student Has an unpaid balance from a pervious semester for any amount of money. A second and equally important issue is that a student must be attending the term during the request. Example-Summer Term A or B student requests deferment; the student, if qualified may receive the deferment for both the A and B terms because they begin on the same day. Another Example-Summer A and C student requests deferment; the student, if qualified has the A term deferred but the C term is not because the student is not actively attending the C term yet. THIS PROCESS IS TOTALLY DEPENDENT UPON COMPUTER INTERACTION AND SUPPORT BETWEEN THE MVRC AND THE CASHIER'S OFFICE. |

Outstand balance with UWFIf you have an outstanding balance for pervious semesters then the deferment can not be applied to your account. Monitor your TransAct through your MyUWF for account balances. I have a balance but receive CSDVV (State Scholarship)Be advised, the CSDDV does not pay during Summer semesters. It is student's responsibility to monitor their Account Balances and fees due. The CSDDV is also a state scholarship which is not monitored through the MVRC. It is also not tied to VA Educational benefits. Any inquiries on the CSDDV and payment issues may be directed to the Florida Department of Education at 888-827-2004 or email at osfa@fldoe.org. If none of these apply to you, contact the Military Veterans and Resource o |
