In GradesFirst, a Kiosk is a mode that tutors can use to "kiosk" helps tutors check students in and check out of various locations. This page will discuss how to set up a Kioskkiosk. This page will discuss what how each UWF tutoring service will use the Kiosk function, since each tutoring service operates differently. |
Instructions
Step 1
Tutors trying to set up a computer for a GradesFirst Kiosk kiosk need to review Discovering which GradesFirst user roles you have to make sure they have the proper access. The direct supervisors of the tutoring services determine which privileges their employees have. These supervisors and their tutors should review Giving and revoking various GradesFirst privileges to tutors.
ACE Lab Staff: The ACE Coordinator is the only ACE employee that can start a GradesFirst Kioskkiosk.
Writing Lab Staff: Each Writing Lab assistant should be able to start GradesFirst Kiosk kiosk because any of them may be asked to start one.
Step 2
Open any web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.). Go to uwf.gradesfirst.com.
Step 3
Click the "Tutor Kiosk" link at the bottom of the screen.
Step 4
A new window should appear. The Kiosk kiosk will be located in this new window. Close the old window.
Step 5
Click on the new window, and then press the "F11" key on your keyboard to make the window take up the entire screen.
*This full-screen mode hides the task bar across the bottom of the screen. This mode helps discourage students from using the computer for anything other than checking in and checking out.
**To exit full-screen mode, press the "F11" key again.
Step 6
Select your location.
ACE Lab Staff: Select "Academic Center for Excellence."
Writing Lab Staff: The location you choose depends on the room in which you are setting up the Kiosk
- Select "Main Writing Lab, Paper Reading Room" if the Kiosk kiosk will be in the Paper Reading Room.
- Select "Main Writing Lab, Skill-of-the-Week Tutoring Room" if the Kiosk kiosk will be in the Tutoring Room.
- Select "Main Writing Lab, Turned Away Because One of the Following Wasn't Available" if the Kiosk kiosk will be at the Front Desk. Add a link here to how turn-aways are tracked I need to contact Hixon and see how she wants to track the turn-aways.
*Attention all tutors: If you select the wrong location, click the grey arrow on the left side of the screen.
Step 7
Select "All Available Services."
*Attention all tutors: You may want to review Creating, editing, and deleting locations in GradesFirst and Creating, editing, and deleting student services in GradesFirst.
*Attention all tutors: If you select the wrong location, click the grey arrow on the left side of the screen.
Step 8
The screen should look like the screenshot below. The Kiosk should now be ready to receive students.
