Overview
As part of the University of West Florida’s Returning to UWF plan there are different course delivery methods to allow for flexibility. This guide provides additional support with how to view the information.
Course Delivery Methods
When reviewing the schedule, please refer to the description of the delivery methods below:
Full Distance Learning
100% of the course is delivered remotely using some form of technology. All special course components (exams, internships, clinicals, labs, etc.) that cannot be completed online can be completed off-campus.
Primarily Distance Learning
80-99% of the course is delivered remotely using some form of technology. You are required to attend campus or another designated location for a small portion of the course, as determined by the instructor.
Hybrid
50-79% of the course is delivered remotely using some form of technology. You are required to attend campus or another designated location for a portion of the course, as determined by the instructor.
Primarily Classroom
This is the traditional face-to-face method. The majority of the course will be completed on-campus. Some of the course may be delivered remotely using some form of technology.
Instructional Strategies
The college deans in consultation with department chairs and instructors developed instructional strategies to promote a safer and healthier University including rotating classroom attendance, alternating online and face-to-face components, among others. Instructors will communicate with students directly regarding the specific strategies selected for each individual course.
Health, Wellness and Prevention
The University is taking proactive measures to provide a safer classroom environment for students and faculty. Classroom facilities will be thoroughly cleaned and include signage that indicates where students may sit based on social distancing guidelines.
Upon the return to UWF locations, a disposable or cloth face covering is required inside all shared indoor spaces and in outdoor areas where social distancing is not possible. UWF will be providing face coverings and hand sanitizer to all students, faculty and staff.
Viewing Classmate to Determine Course Delivery Method
You may log into MyUWF and view Classmate (formerly called My Classes) to see if your class is online or if it will have some component of in person meeting on campus.
There are several types of course delivery methods. These are listed under "Tech" when viewing Classmate
Notes:
- If you have an Online Campus course review whether it has specific meeting days and times or not as it may be one of two types.
- Synchronous - you will meet online but on specific day(s) and time just like a face-to-face course. You will be expected to log in and access the course material at these scheduled days/times with all of your classmates to participate in the course, even though you are remote.
- Asynchronous - this is where you are able to log in at different times individually as long as you meet the instructor's deadline/course requirements for the content.
- If your course indicates Hybrid or Primarily Distance Learning - your instructor will provide additional information related to the schedule and expectations for the on campus components. Please look for this information to be sent to you or reach out to the instructor if you have any questions. You can click on the instructor's name in Classmate to initiate an email.
- It's common at this time of the year to not have all instructors assigned on the schedule due to the timelines of teaching contracts. Please watch for updates as instructors are assigned in the coming weeks.
