Computer Security

Digital security is about taking action to protect yourself and your UWF community from online threats. This means selecting strong passwords and keeping them secret, taking precautions to protect your computer from spyware, and using anti-virus software which is free to UWF students.

As a computer user, it is your responsibility to be aware of security threats and to protect against these threats. The consequences of not staying protected include identity theft, loss of computer data, and damage to your personal reputation. Every time you hear about a security breach on the nightly news, it comes as a result of individuals not taking security seriously.

File Storage

H: and I: drives (Home and Web folders) provide UWF students, faculty, and staff with electronic storage space on the UWF server. Files can be accessed after logging in with your ArgoNet username and password. Saving to your H: and I: drives provides additional benefits of regular backups and the ability to access your files from any computer with an Internet connection.

The H: drive is a secure storage space for academic and work-related files. The I: drive is just like the H: drive, with one exception - I: is a web folder, so anything saved on the I: drive is posted to the Internet. Students are allocated 200MB. This space can be split in any proportion between the H: and I: drives.

Google Drive provides unlimited storage for your student account.  To access Google Drive, visit drive.google.com and log in using your full UWF email address and Argonet password.

Your official UWF email address and file spaces are issued to you for the purposes of facilitating your business and academic purposes while you are a UWF student. Students will lose access to their email and file accounts after three semesters of non-attendance or graduation. We strongly recommend that you remove all files from your H and I drives and Google account before your ArgoNet account is downgraded.  If you do not already have a personal email address, you can create a free Google account.
