Overview

This article explains how Continuing Education students can access UWF Continuing Education eLearning courses from their iPhone or Android smartphones. Continuing Education students cannot access the mobile version of eLearning the same way as traditional UWF students.

Instructions

Step 1: Install the app

Download the Canvas Student app by Instructure Inc. on your smartphone (iPhone: Apple's App Store; Android: Google Play Store).

Step 2: Change to "Canvas Login" mode

Using 2 fingers, spread apart slightly as seen in the videos below, double-tap on the screen.

On iPhone, the phrase "Canvas Login" will appear in the top right of the screen next to the question mark:

On Android 9, a toast notification that says "Canvas_Login: ON" will appear briefly and then fade away:

Tap only twice

If you double-tap too many times, you will have to keep double-tapping until you see the correct phrase appear (Canvas Login, or Canvas_Login: ON).

Step 3: Find UWF

Click the blue button that says "Find my school." Type "uwf" and select University of West Florida from the search results.

Step 4: Log in

Enter your Login ID (usually your email address) and password. If you do not know your password, press "Forgot Password?" and enter your Login ID to reset your password.

FAQs

I am tapping the screen, but I don't see "Canvas Login" anywhere.

You may not have 2 fingers spread apart far enough (it should be about an inch) or you may be double-tapping too slowly. Try double-tapping quickly, as shown in the videos above.

I saw "Canvas Login" appear, but when I try to log in, it shows a UWF logo.

You may have double-tapped too many times and tried to log in as a "Site Admin" instead. Go all the way back to the starting screen and double-tap with two fingers again until you see "Canvas Login" or "Canvas_Login: ON."

I entered my User ID and password and I cannot log in.

If you see a UWF logo and a "Username" and "Password" field, you are on the incorrect login screen. If you see a Canvas logo and fields for "User ID" and "Password" but cannot log in, you may be entering your password incorrectly. You can tap "Forgot Password?" to reset it.
