Abstract

The University of West Florida (“UWF” or the “University”) is committed to providing an environment that is free of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct. This Policy covers a broad range of behavior, including sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation (hereinafter “Prohibited Conduct”), that is prohibited under this Policy as well as State and Federal law and regulations.

I note that on a couple of occasions (twice in the paragraph preceding "Definitions"–I believe on p. 2) the process is referred to as a "grievance" process.  It is not.  A grievance process is the procedure that is developed through negotiation between union and university representatives.  The process outlined in this statement is a complaint procedure, not a grievance procedure.


    A second issue is the delay of the process for "good cause."  In my experience, "good cause" is any reason that the University cares to provide.  Perhaps the policy could provide a little more clarity about what "good cause" might be other than "we need more time."
