Draft Policy is out for Comment from August 13, 2020 to September 14, 2020

The University of West Florida (“UWF” or the “University”) is committed to providing an environment that is free of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct. This Policy covers a broad range of behavior, including sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation (hereinafter “Prohibited Conduct”), that is prohibited under this Policy as well as State and Federal law and regulations.

  1. I note that on a couple of occasions (twice in the paragraph preceding "Definitions"–I believe on p. 2) the process is referred to as a "grievance" process.  It is not.  A grievance process is the procedure that is developed through negotiation between union and university representatives.  The process outlined in this statement is a complaint procedure, not a grievance procedure.

A second issue is the delay of the process for "good cause."  In my experience, "good cause" is any reason that the University cares to provide.  Perhaps the policy could provide a little more clarity about what "good cause" might be other than "we need more time."
