Below are eLearning issues that have been reported to the ITS Help Desk.

 

* When an upcoming version of eLearning becomes available, it is usually applied between semesters.

Sorting in Online Rooms

 Online Rooms cannot be permanently sorted and there is no default sort order. Sorting must be done each time a person visits the page.

Workaround:

Our eLearning vendor does consider this a bug so there is no ETA for a fix. As a work-around, an instructor can link to an Online Room in the Content section of eLearning. Students can also look for the "join" icon to see open rooms.

"Unable to get Join link for this meeting"

 Users will receive this error message when they click Join for Online Rooms.

Workaround:

The cause for the error is when more than 1 group is added to a restricted session. As a work-around, the instructor will either need to create 1 large group or add each user manually.

Notes: This is caused by a bug #PRB0045423 and there is no ETA for the fix yet.

Error Viewing Agenda

 Users will receive an error when viewing the "Agenda" section of their eLearning calendar at their eLearning home page (Org Level Calendar)

Workaround:

  1. Go to a Course Offering and access the Calendar Tool from there 
  2. Change to any tab (other than the Agenda tab) 
  3. Now when you go back to the Org Level, the tool will be accessible. However, you'll receive the error again if you go back to the Agenda.

"Course is not visible" for Instructor Personal Dashboard

 In some cases, the Personal Dashboard may display that a course is not visible to students when it is active.

Status: Open

Workaround:

Instructors may set early access to eLearning courses before the course start date. If early access is provided and the instructor uses the Personal Dashboard eLearning homepage view, the course will show a 'Course is not visible' message to the instructor when the course is active in eLearning. The message will go away for the course on the start date of the course.

Unable to Insert Images in email Messages 

 In some cases, videos and images embedded in externally-sent emails cannot be viewed.

Workaround:

Messages that need to be sent with images will need to be provided by Gmail (faculty/staff/students) or Message Composer (faculty).

Notes: This is caused by a bug #PRB0044924 and there is no ETA for the fix yet.

 Feedback in self assessments will disappear after a second when self assessments are quick linked to module content.

Workaround:

The cause for the error is when self assessments are linked in the content . As a work-around, the feedback appears normally if the users navigate directly to the Self Assessments page.

Online Room will not save

 Unauthorized Special Characters

Status: Open

Category: Online Rooms

Workaround:

Do not use these five special characters: # % < " &

Notes: When creating an Online Room, you may receive an error due to any of these five special characters: # % < " &

 

The error is hard to spot since, the asterisk remains the same during the creation of the room and the error notification.

Workaround:

Please make sure that each Grade Item/Category has a unique name and you should be able to use the Manage Dates bulk offset without issues.

 Updates for Instructors not Opening in New Window

 Updates Window not Opening in New Window

Status: Open

Category: Widgets

Workaround:

Utilization of the Firefox browser when clicking on a widget, such as a link to unread discussions in the Updates widget, the content appeared within the widget and not in a new window.





There is currently no work around until version 10.6.10.

Quizzes not showing up in LockDown Browser Dashboard

 When one or more quizzes do not show in the LockDown Browser Dashboard, it is typically due to a "null" or an empty value in the D2L "Message" field.

Workaround:

This is a sporadic issue with D2L web services and might occur after a course copy. The quickest way to resolve the problem is to enter some text (even a blank space using the space key) in the "Message" field and save the quiz again.  If all quizzes in the course have this same problem, you will likely see this message when opening the LockDown Browser Dashboard: "There are no deployed tests in this course." For more information, please see the Respondus KB Article.

Error From Viewing eLearning Quiz Questions from Instructor View

 Error Message when evaluating quiz questions

Category: Quizzes

Previously, in an instance of Brightspace Learning Environment that had Daylight turned off, if you attempted to preview a multi-select question that had at least one correct answer specified, an error occurred. Now, in an instance of Brightspace Learning Environment that has Daylight turned off, if you attempt to preview a multi-select question that has at least one correct answer specified, you can preview the question as expected.

Workaround:

The question will need to previewed from the question library or entering the quiz via the preview quiz option.

Notes: This is caused by a bug #PRB0053814 and there is no ETA for the fix yet.

Too Many Hidden Dropbox Folders

 Error Message when evaluating quiz questions

Status: Open

Category: Dropbox

If an instructor has more than 10 hidden drop box folders in the eLearning course this will cause issues with student unable to access any drop box folders to submit assignements.

Workaround:

Remove any hidden drop box folders that are not currently in use. Instructors may need to create drop box folders before the assignment is due for students to submit the assignments needed or display all drop box folders for students to view.

Notes: Currently no ETA on this issue.
